Ironic that I am using the image to the right, a prescription pad often used to write an order for health restoring drugs, to outline steps we've implemented to stand firmly against Sarah's addiction. With love.
1. Tell and show Sarah that we love her.
2. Be firm. Stick to boundaries.
3. Encourage without nagging, question without crossing her bounds.
4. Suggest ways to overcome hurdles that 19 year olds do not face for a few more years.
5. Try not to panic.
6. Collaborating with each other, we examine and question motives, words, and actions. Preparation is necessary to outwit the clever, straight-faced lying addicts who are masters at manipulation by words, actions, promises, and pleas.
7. Recognize that we're in over our heads, continue support outreach, and love one another.
I'm sure there is more and you can read between the lines to understand that we're trying not to enable, trying not to do anything that makes getting drugs easier, counseling her to avoid further physical abuse by devil boyfriend, and praying for recovery.
Pretty weak program but we're working on it.

Not so weak, really. I think you're showing remarkably good judgment under the most hazardous circumstances. Having a principled basis for your actions is very wise. For the rest of us, we love and admire you both, and pray for your continued strength every day. Love, Tom
Hard not to devolve into anger. Keep doing what you're doing, Pops. We're with you.
Love,

Rich and Susan,
I'm not sure I knew I could post a comment?!?
Boy, if i could do something, anything, to take this pain and suffering from you guys and Sarah, I would. At minimum, I pray that fear and despair does not overcome you and that God will intervene sooner than later. While we all have are crosses to bear, this, I know, is so so heavy. My heart is bleeding for you.
