Thank you to friends and family and mentors for your words of encouragement and prayers for Sarah. Released from detox, Sarah caught the big grey dog from Ann Arbor to Detroit to Toledo to Dayton to Indy to home.
I think she might get used to her bedroom and a good place to sleep! She is home for a few hours until we leave for Leawood KS where Peter Sexton will be christened on Sunday. Peter, brother Conor, sister Molly, and parents Chris and Erin will host family and friends for the weekend. Pat, our oldest, and his wife Becky and daughter Lexi will be together, too.
For now, we take life for what it is. One day, one moment, and one more chance to share time with our children. In all, seeing each this year has been a gift. Each is special, each is unique. Each perhaps works and worries too much .... just like we did.
Dad and Mom H. had that good old philosophy. "You do the best you can with what you know at the time." Well folks, we're still learning. We'd redo most of what we did as young parents, this time better than before, that is, if we could -- but we can't. So we can live with yesterday's memories, tomorrow's hopes, and today's realities.
Don't be too busy to miss the gift that is" today". Remember to say "I love you". Thank God! He knows us and our needs. He will provide. Sarah, alive, is proof.
