Sarah's program is a bit of mystery and except for a text message last night. We have had no contact with her since Susan dropped her off in Tennessee. Once she's been in one week we'll hear more.
Susan kicked her funky mood; 1776 production on Friday, normal weekend chores, and the high point: renting The Bucket List all get credit for lifting spirits.
No interrupted sleep this week because there are no late night phone calls, no pleading or bargaining, and no other drama. Looking back it is very clear what was going on -- nothing good. We wanted too much to believe all the clues had legitimate explanations. Dumb.
Confronting the argument that "I'm almost 19. You can't control me!"was difficult. Too rigid, blah, blah, blah. Lots of 3-way arguments over those and related behaviors. The addict is pretty good at exploiting and separating. Disruption and Denial!
Remembering that we're battling the disease is hard especially when you're trying to confront the behaviors and wanting our daughter to know we love her.
Addiction is a family disease.
